Impact of Artificial Intelligences in Higher Education

Abstract :
This research paper looks at how Artificial Intelligence (AI) is changing higher education in India. It examines current adoption trends, applications, challenges, and future possibilities. The study relies on recent surveys and reports from leading educational organizations, including the FICCI-EY AI Adoption Survey 2025 and findings from the Digital Education Council. The analysis shows that around 57% of Indian Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) have set formal AI policies. Additionally, 86% of students use AI tools for academic purposes. The paper also discusses various AI applications, such as personalized learning systems, administrative tasks, intelligent tutoring, and research support. Despite notable progress, challenges remain, including infrastructure issues, the digital divide, gaps in faculty training, and ethical concerns. The National Education Policy 2020 provides a solid framework for incorporating AI, helping position India as a leader in AI-driven education. This paper offers insights for policymakers, educators, and institutions looking to harness AI's potential while dealing with implementation challenges.
